The Daughters of Charity are a worldwide Society of Apostolic Life called to serve Jesus Christ in persons who are poor and marginalized. Motivated by the love of Christ and strengthened by a deep prayer life, we live and pray in community, supporting each other in our common mission of service.
Like many women in other communities, we make vows of poverty, chastity and obedience. What distinguishes us, however, is a fourth vow of service of the poor. Another distinction is that we do not make perpetual vows, but make them every year on the Feast of the Annunciation, which permits us to choose again our commitment to God and to the poor.
